2nd. Answer: C) multiply by 2 and add 3

1*2+3 = 5
5*2+3 = 13
13*2+3 = 29
29*2+3 = 61

 

 

The solution is 2x + 3. To get the next term in the pattern, the term is multiplied by 2 and then 3 is added to the result.


5 = 2(1) + 3

13 = 2(5) + 3

29 = 2(13) + 3

61 = 2(29) + 3
