One number is bigger than another by 6.When 4 is added 3 times the smaller.The result is the same as twice the larger.Find the number
N = n + 6 ...(1) Where N is the bigger number and n the smaller.
3*n + 4 = 2*N ...(2)
Substitute N from eqn (1) into eqn (2)
3*n + 4 = 2*(n + 6)
3*n + 4 = 2*n + 12
3*n -2*n = 12 - 4
n = 8
Substitute this back into eqn(1)
N = 8 + 6
N = 14
hmmm i think its twelve melody CPhill alan anybody?verify
