x+y=6      y = 6-x

x * y = 3

x * (6-x) = 3

-x^2+6x-3=0       x = 3 +-sqrt6        y = 3 -+sqrt6

1/(3+sqrt6)  + 1/(3-sqrt6)   =  2

Let's take two arbitrary numbers: n,m therefore we have n+m=6 and nm=3.

So we have to find the sum of the reciprocals or: 1n+1m

Adding them we get: m+nnm using the sum and product of the two numbers we can say m+nnm=63=2

If the sum of two numbers is 6 and the product of the two numbers is 3 then
what is the sum of the reciprocals of the two numbers?

Let number one =a Let number two =b Let the sum of the reciprocals of the two numbers=x

x=1a+1b|×abx×ab=(1a+1b)×abx×ab=aba+abbx×ab=b+a|a+b=6, ab=33x=6|:3x=63x=2

The sum of the reciprocals of the two numbers is 2

I have a question on this problem:Findxyif2x+1y=138x3y=3.

If you can solve this that would be great. Thanks
