How to make an empty rectangle in Latex
I just worked out how to make an empty box of various horizonal size easily in LaTex.
This is not a recommended method, but other methods that I have tried here have not worked.
This coding is really simple. Just put letters inside

Very interesting question. No high level maths required.
This question was posted a couple of days ago.

I think it is really interesting. It looks much more difficult than it really needs to be.

Some guidelines for question askers.
Please note:
1) Ask only one question per post.
2) When asking a question talk about what you have tried for yourself. Then people will take you more seriously and will be more able and willing to help.
3) If you get an answer

9x^2-16x-8
I assume you want this factorised.
To do this you need to find 2 numbers that add to -16 and multiply to (9*-8)
no such numbers exist
So it cannot be factorised with rational numbers.

There is no solution to this problem
If you want to prove this, let the two numbers be x and y.
x + y = 3 so y=3-x
and
x*y=40
so
x(3-x)=40
Expand the left side, then take it all to one side and put = 0
When you use the quadratic formula to solve you will find that there are no solutions.

hi Is 1 1/4% greater than 0.125
1 1/4 = 1.25
1.25% = 1.25 / 100 = 0.0125
Do you know which is bigger? 0.125 or 0.0125 ?

Calculus is a clever way to deal with instantaneous rates of change. It doesn't matter what the rate is measuring the techniques are really the same.
I would expect you to gain a similar degree of understanding.

Khadar's answer is good but I suspect that you need a surd answer.
4root3 * 6root6
=4*6*root3*root6
=24root18
=24root(9*2)
=24*root9*root2
=24*3*root2
=72root2 inches square

I am suspicious that the question was not copied correctly but here is the answer for this question.
3
x
+ 2 + 9
x
+ 1 = 810
3
x
+ (3
2
)
x
+3 = 810
3
x
+ (3
x
)
2
+ 3 = 810
(3
x
)
2
+ (3
x
) -807 = 0
let y=3
x
y
2
+ y -807 = 0
Using the quadratic formuls you end up with
y = [-1 +- sqr(3229)] / 2
y-2 = [-5 +- sqr(3229)] / 2
so
3
x
- 2 = [-5 +- sqr(3229)] / 2

there is no number other than 1 that goes into both 39 and 68
Therefore it is already fully simplified.
