I would prefer multiply by 4 on each side......:

\(\dfrac{x-1}{2}+1=\dfrac{x+1}{4}\\ 2(x-1) + 4 = x+ 1\\ 2x - 2 + 4 = x + 1\\ 2x + 2 = x + 1\\ 2x - x = 1-2\\ x = -1\)

I got the same answer as asinus did!! That means hopefully we are both correct! :)

That's a derivative problem..... Not a usual volume problem.

-3(x-1)^2 + 27

= -3(x^2 - 2x + 1) + 27

= -3x^2 + 6x - 3 + 27

= -3x^2 + 6x + 24

= -3(x^2 - 2x - 8)

= -3(x-4)(x+2)

First question: (-1) x 1 = -1.

Second question: -2 x 2 = -4 = -2^2 not 2^2.

You mean \(\dfrac{1}{\frac{1}{10}}+\dfrac{\frac{1}{10}}{\frac{1}{10}}\)?

The first part of this (before the plus sign) is 10.

1/(1/a)= a

The remaining part is 1.

a/a = 1

Then we add them up and the answer is 11.
