Very interesting question. No high level maths required.
This question was posted a couple of days ago.

I think it is really interesting. It looks much more difficult than it really needs to be.

Some guidelines for question askers.
Please note:
1) Ask only one question per post.
2) When asking a question talk about what you have tried for yourself. Then people will take you more seriously and will be more able and willing to help.
3) If you get an answer

0.1x^2-x=-2.1
solve for x
multiply everything by 10 to get rid of the decimals
Put it all on the LHS (=0)
Solve as a quadratic
It is an easy quadratic
Have a go and if you need more help, post again.

16xy 4 +4x 2 y 3 -12x 5 y 4 =
If there is no symbol between a letter and a number, or between two letters then there IS an INVISABLE TIMES SIGN
16xy 4 +4x 2 y 3 -12x 5 y 4
= 16xy*4 +4x*2*y*3 -12x*5*y*4
= 64xy + 24xy - 240xy
=(64+24-240)xy
and you can finish it

Can someone please help me understand how 2.7+(-12)= -9.3
If you have money in your money box then you have a positive amount of money.
If you owe money to your mother then you have a negative amount of money - because you have got less than nothing.
say you have $2.70 in your money box
Now you want to buy something so you borrow 12 dollars and spend the 12 dollars straight away that's negative 12 dollars
so you now have $2.70 + -$12 = -$9.70
In other words if you work and earn another $9.70 and then you give
all
your money to your mother, you will be back to having 0.
Or you could just look at +- as a pattern
1++2 = 3
1++1 = 2
1+ 0 = 1
1+-1 = 0 (by continuing the pattern)
1+-2 = -1
etc

That depends on how much you borrow
on the interest rate
on how big the repayments are and how often they are made
and very importantly on whether it is simple interest or compound interest.
If it is compound interest you would need to know how often it is componding as well.
Simple interest questions are usually faily easy
Compound interest questions are much harder.
If you borrow a little amount you might pay simple interest but if you borrow a big amount like for a house, it will always be compound (or reducible) interest.
